World Cup Soccer A couple Months Late

So, it's the last day of February and I realized I haven't made a post in over a month. I been working on several different projects, unfortunately I can't show those images right now due to copyright reasons. So, I dug into the old Sketch book to see what I could find and low and behold I found this sketch I did for my Paraguayan foreign exchange brother during the World Cup this past Summer. Hope you like it.

I will try to be better about posting this next month.

A Card for Mom

Please forgive me. I have been remiss about posting these past few weeks things have been super busy, but here is a card I managed to make for my mom on Mother's Day. This illustration was sort of inspired by the Norman Rockwell poster that used to hang on my wall. My apologies to Norman Rockwell.

Character Sketch, Week Seven- Cowpoke Part 1

Here's a sketch that appeals to my Texas roots.  I'm also really excited about going to the Rodeo in Houston next week and can't stop drawing cowboy related doodles.  This is the first part of a larger illustration, so be sure to dust off the old boots and swing by this here ranch next week for the complete sketch.

I also wanted to apologize to my guest artist last week, David Yoder, apparently I screwed up the link in the last post.  This one should work.

Thanks ya'll and have a great week.

Character Sketch, Week Six

Here's this week's character sketch.  This week's sketch features a guest artist.  My friend and fellow classmate David Yoder is responsible for the ravenous duck giving our Hero the chase. Enjoy.

Character Sketch, Week Five

Here are a few sketch cards I did for a charity event. I experimented with colored ink on these. The colors are a little off on the scans, hopefully I'll get around to digitally color correcting them eventually. Enjoy.

Character Sketch, Week 4

I'm a huge sports junky and when the Olympics roll around, Summer or Winter, it's hard to pull me away from the constant coverage. Here is a quick sketch I did last night while watching Shaun White dominate the men's half pipe event and win gold. Go Team USA!

Happy Valentines Day!

So, in the spirit of love and Valentines Day I thought I'd use this weeks brush pen exercise as an opportunity to create a fun card. I also couldn't resist adding a bit of digital color. Hope you like it.

Character Skecth, Week Two

Here's this week's sketch. I call this one Beach Pizza.

Character Sketch Week One

I did this sketch on the Plane from Nashville to Chicago. I guess I was sort of inspired by all the country music paraphernalia in the Music City's Airport.

Weekly Character Sketch

Over the Holidays I met with my thesis advisor and top notch cartoonist, Andy Runton, who introduced me to my favorite new tool the Japanese brush pen. I've always thought brush suited my style best and the brush pen provides a similar quality line in less time and with less mess.

Here is a drawing I did and Andy inked to demonstrate the simplistic and elegant line you can get from a brush pen. As a result of this demonstration I've decided to draw and ink one character sketch a week in order to hone my skills with the brush pen.
